Amos Kuana Isamu Arashiro, otherwise known as "Uncle Moose", born February 28, 1952, died March 24, 2011.

Uncle Moose was cook, chef and BOSS when it came to luaus. Always looking for grunt workers, we were always relegated to washing dishes, fetching whatevas, bagging food and general cleanup. Not one to share his cooking secrets except to say, "It's cooked with Aloha." we will miss your ono food!
The consummate joker, any pictures he took, where you got his face, showed tongue or rabbit ears.
Also a serious card player, don't mess with Uncle Moose, and don't play if you no can handle. He had to win. period.

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for coming down to watch the kids while Steve and I were able to attend the funeral. It was a quick trip, but so nice to be with family at this time. They had the funeral at the church and then we all came to the cemetery.
He was buried at the Hawaiian Cemetery in Kekaha and it was very small time with the family doing a lot of the work, including digging and filling the grave.
They had beautiful orchids for everyone to place on the casket to say goodbye.
And then he was lowered by hand.
Papa threw the first shovel of dirt and then everyone else helped fill the grave.
And then the family placed all the flowers on the grave. There was a big luau afterwards at the Neighborhood Center and I enjoyed eating all of Uncle Moose's favorite dishes. Aloha oe Uncle Moose, you will be missed!
