Happy Birthday Brityn!

Brityn was up early on her birthday, but lucky her, she got to go to school!  It is always so hard to see a pile of presents and then have to wait all day until there's enough time to open them!

She did hop on her brand new bike!  She was very happy to "graduate" to a bigger one.

Ryder picked out a stamp set for Brityn's birthday.

Kendyl got her a pet pooch for her American Girl doll.

Sawyer picked out a cool color-changing, music playing, Silver Mist barbie doll.

And she got clothes, more American Girl doll stuff, books, a game for her DS, and birthday dollars.

And again, no cake, so we had chocolate chip lava cookies.  Leightyn LOVED the candles and the singing!

Happy Birthday Brityn!  We love you!!!

Brityn is 7...

Seven years have gone by so fast!  Our second little girl was such a precious baby.  She came 5 days past her due date and was my first induction.  She was by far, the quickest and easiest birth.  She was definitely a momma's girl, but oh, so cute!

Her first Halloween at 1 month old.

We blessed her Thanksgiving weekend with lots of friends and family in town.

First Christmas at 3 months old.

We were amazed with yet another blue-eyed baby.

Love her big grins!

And now she's a beautiful 7 year-old.  She is thoughtful and kind and sensitive.  She has a lovely spiritual side to her and is very nurturing.  On the other hand she can be spunky and quick to laugh and sometimes annoying to her brothers.  She is smart and learns quickly and is a very good student.  She always looks for the good in others and gives great compliments.  She loves good night hugs and spending one-on-one time with mom or dad.  She always works hard and is a terrific tennis player and swimmer and piano player.  We love her smiles and loving heart.  Happy Birthday Brityn!  We love you!!!

Birthday Party Wipeout Zone...

Brityn had all kinds of ideas for her birthday party this year.  She finally decided to have a Wipeout Party.  It turned out awesome and was quite fun to plan!  Dad was in charge of coming up with a "challenging" course where everyone got wet.  I think it was a success--everyone had a blast!

The girls had to climb over barrels, jump into pools, bounce from spot to spot, sucker punch our boxing buddy (those girls were swinging!), climb through the big red ball, and slide through shaving cream.  All with sprinklers, squirt guns, and silly string trying to distract them.

Everyone did awesome!!!

After everyone worked up an appetite, we opened presents and had lunch.

Brityn did not want a cake this year so we had donuts and icecream instead.  This was a big hit!

Happy 7th Birthday Brityn!!!  Hope you had a blast in the Wipeout Zone!  You just won $50,000 birthday dollars!

Brityn was selected as the first Student of the Week!  She is a sweetheart and loves 2nd grade and her teacher Ms. James.  We are so proud of the excellent student you have become.  You are a wonderful example and a hard worker.  Great job Brityn!!!

Girly Pinewood Derby...

Our 1st Pinewood Derby and we don't even have a cub scout yet!  The stake primary hosted a pinewood derby for all of the activity day girls.   It was a learning experience for us!  We spent some time carving out the car, sanding, painting and decorating.  The girls had fun being creative and we thought it would be more of a "fashion" derby with awards for most creative, colorful, fabulous, best of show, etc.  Don't be fooled--the only awards were for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place!  There are some seriously competitive dads out there.  The girls did have a good time and there were lots of lessons on good sportsmanship.  ;-)

Kendyl's car raced well, but did not place.

It still looked great!  We have since been "educating" ourselves with all kinds of "tips" so the next pinewood derby we'll be much faster.

Pierced ears...

I debated getting Leightyn's ears pierced, but finally decided to just have it done now, while she is young and won't remember.  Kendyl got her ears pierced when she was 5, but Brityn has been too scared of the pain to have hers done.  So a couple of weeks ago we had them pierced at the pediatrician's office.  She only cried right after it was done and once I picked her up she was fine.

She did manage to pull out her left earring twice, and lost the back the second time.  We had to use one of Kendyl's studs on her left ear, so she is currently sporting 2 different earrings until her 6 weeks are up.  Since then, she has left them alone.

And she sure looks cute!

Orange obsession...

Sawyer has a favorite color and it is orange.  Makes it easy to shop for him because he grabs anything that is orange.  He now has a collection of 5 orange shirts which he wears as soon as they are clean.  His collection of orange cars is constantly growing.

He likes cereal in orange boxes, granola bars in orange wrappers, orange slices, orange juice, orange yogurt, all eaten in an orange bowl or plate with an orange fork or spoon, alongside his orange cup.

He wears his orange tie every Sunday.

Luckily he is not exclusive and will eat, play, wear or use things that are other colors, but if there's orange, he definitely wants it!
