Pioneer Days...

We always have a fun time at our stake's Pioneer Days celebration. This year was quite hot, but the kids had a great time and the fireworks were spectacular as usual.

The kids discovered a new booth, toss the sponge, and had a super fun time tossing a wet sponge at each other. The girls quickly got the idea and raced to move the water from one bucket to the other.

Ryder, on the other hand, thought it was more fun to just squeeze the water back in his own bucket and then throw the sponge!

Miniature golf was a favorite game.

This year Brityn finally worked up the courage to get her face painted. She chose a pink flower.

Kendyl got a blue butterfly.

And no way were Ryder or Sawyer getting their faces painted!

Fish pond was another game the kids really liked.

And back to the sponge toss! :) There were a bunch of bounce houses and food booths and other fun things to do, but the highlight, is always the fireworks!

Kendyl's Swim Meet...

Kendyl had her swim meet this month and swam in three events, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. She swam really well and came in first in her heat for backstroke, second in her heat for breaststroke and third in her heat for freestyle!

She was so excited after her 1st place finish! She also won a ribbon for the breaststroke as well for the meet. Way to go Kendyl!!!! Great job!!!!!!

Steve's Adventures in Moab...

So while the kids and I stayed in the condo and played with our friends that live in Moab, Steve was off adventuring with the YW in our ward and stake.

Camping in tents with some rain and about a 30 mile drive to reach Moab.

The first morning they set up a shooting range and had the girls target and clay pigeon shooting.

Then they took them on a hike and saw these cool dinosaur tracks. They spent the rest of the day hiking, swimming, and jumping off rocks into a waterfall.

Friday, their group spent the day on the Colorado River rafting and swimming and knocking each other out of their boats.

Saturday morning they hiked to Corona Arch and then repelled 150 feet down from the top of the arch.

Very impressive! These girls were brave!!!

And if they weren't tired after that, they hiked to Delicate Arch that afternoon!

Steve came home with tons of stories and said it was lots of fun getting to know the girls and watching them push themselves to do things that were out of their comfort zones. Not too many pictures of Steve...apparently he was too busy "adventuring" and taking pictures of everyone else!

Adventures in Moab, Dead Horse Point...

On Friday we drove out to see Dead Horse Point. As the legend goes, cowboys (horse thieves) used to herd wild horses to a natural coral and then fence them in. One time the horses were left unattended where they virtually starved to death even though they were in site of the Colorado River. Sad story, but breathtaking scenery.

We stopped at the visitor's center to check it out.

They had a small children's area with puzzles, books, and things for the kids to do.

Not too impressed with these rock walls. They were quite low in many areas and from the look of this wall, they had to build it twice as high here. Not very safe when you are trying to keep small children safe!

The kids loved the view and hiking around, but I was more worried about all the low fences and keeping track of everyone! We did stop and have a picnic lunch here where we saw several chipmunks, deer, and huge crows.

After lunch we headed up Potash Road to see the petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks.

Ryder was most impressed to see these dino tracks. He was so excited!!!

Adventures in Moab, Rotary Park

So Steve left Wednesday night to go camp about 30 miles outside of Moab with our stake yw for their high adventure. They were supposed to have lunch at this park on Thursday, so we packed a picnic lunch and waited for them to come.

The kids were in heaven since it is just too hot at home to go to the park. This park was nice and shady and cool.

It also had a really cool section full of musical instruments the kids could play on.

They all had a blast and were entertained for quite a while. Which was a good thing because the yw never showed up...apparently they changed their schedule around so we didn't get to see them.

But, we all enjoyed our picnic lunch and playing at the park and hit the pool in the afternoon with our friends!

Adventures in Moab, Hole in the Rock...

We took the kids to see Hole in the Rock on Wednesday. It used to be a house and restaurant that someone carved into the side of a mountain. Interesting, but a little strange too.

They also have a petting zoo here, which was the main attraction for the kids.

They gave us a bucket of carrots, oats, and food to feed the animals with.

The kids enjoyed feeding and petting all the animals.

This baby deer was born the night before and it was already standing up and walking around.

Who knew Moab could boast having a camel?

Lots of fun for the kids and a nice day for everyone!
