Sassy six-year-old...

This little girl has always been full of personality. She definitely knows what she likes to wear and has pretty hair that is easy to style. She is very creative and likes to try new hairdos, although mostly she sticks with her "usuals".

So one morning last week I did her hair and said you need bows or flowers to cover the elastics. I pull out 2 cute bows that match her outfit and put them in her hair. Her response to her finished hair, "Good thing I'm not going anywhere today. I don't want anyone to see me in these mushy, gushy bows!"

What's wrong with these bows? You're only 6! Good thing I have one more little girl to do cute girlie hairdos on with big mushy gushy bows! :)

Cutie pie...

Just a few pictures of our little cutie smiling. Leightyn will now smile on cue and is laughing. It doesn't take many laughs for her to get the hiccups though and then she's not laughing anymore.

She's so cute in her little hat!

Leightyn has a heart-shaped birthmark on the back of her head. Thought I'd get a picture of it before her hair covers it up. :)  At 3 months she weighs 11 lbs. 6 oz. and is 22 inches long.  She is growing so fast!

Brityn loses her first teeth...

Brityn finally lost her first two teeth! And not without some help--good thing Dad is a dentist!

Here is the "before" picture. I noticed back in October that she was sporting two new teeth growing behind her baby ones. She looked like she had shark teeth. :)

Here is the "after" picture. We waited a few months to see if those baby teeth would start wiggling around, but they never got loose at all. Finally Daddy took her into the office to pull them out. She was an excellent patient with no tears at all!

And check out how long those roots are!  Brave girl!!

And of course, the doctor prescribed a chocolate shake after the extractions.  :)

Here she is putting her teeth under her pillow along with a note asking the Tooth Fairy to please leave her teeth so she can keep them.

This lucky girl got $2 and a candy bar!  Way to go Brityn!

More visitors...

Auntie and Uncle Glenn flew over from Hawaii for a visit and to meet Leightyn. We LOVE seeing our family and getting a chance to relax and talk story! Their visit was too short, but the kids loved having them here and it was wonderful to be together again.

Thank you, Auntie and Uncle Glenn, for playing with the kids, helping with homework, holding Leightyn and letting Steve and I go to lunch.

We love you and are so glad you came to visit!!

Grandma...

It sure feels like our house is jinxed lately for stones. Poor Grandma was the next recipient with a golf-sized gallstone. She ended up in the emergency room Tuesday after New Year's and had to have surgery the next day to have her gallbladder removed.

She sure was a trooper and spent the next few weeks resting and recouperating. Grandpa took good care of her. It was nice for us to get more time with Grandma and Grandpa since we don't get to see them that often. The girls enjoyed reading scriptures with her and Ryder liked having Grandpa take him to preschool and I appreciated her doing the girls' hair in the morning for school. We're glad she is doing better, but we sure do miss them!

While Grandma and Grandpa were here, Alisa and Morgan came down for the long weekend to visit from BYU. They are always fun to have around and we enjoyed meeting Alisa's boy/friends. We love you Alisa--thanks for the entertaining weekend! :) We also got to help Morgan celebrate her birthday, she's not a teenager any more--Happy Birthday! We love you Morgan! :)

Leightyn's Blessing Day...

We blessed our precious little princess on New Year's Day. It happened to be a Sunday this year so we celebrated with fireworks the night before and then got to enjoy blessing her in church the next day.

Our family.  And I think it is now impossible to get a picture where we're all looking at the camera, don't have our eyes closed, heads turned, or fingers in places they shouldn't be.  :)

Dad, Mom and Leightyn.

Our beautiful girl in her beautiful dress.

Love these cute expressions on her face..."Why do you keep taking my picture Mom?"

"Aren't you done yet?"

"Seriously."

Happy New Year...

We had family come into town for the weekend to celebrate the New Year. We've been crazy busy with a new baby and health issues and Christmas and decorations and winter break from school and organizing and cleaning house so all the Christmas toys can get put away. But, it sure was nice to take a break and actually enjoy some time with the kids and play with cousins and have some fun.

Our little cutie pie is getting big sooooo fast! I just want to slow down time and enjoy the newborn stage just a bit longer. Leightyn is a sweet little girl and has been sleeping pretty good at nights. All the kids love to hold her and give her loves. She has the most expressive face and is quick to give smiles. She loves being right in the middle of all the action and the noise doesn't seem to bother her at all. :)
