Our cute little guy...

...is getting so big! We just had our well baby check today and he is almost 14 lbs. He is totally outpacing our girls in both weight and height. He is healthy and smiling and cooing and we think he is on the verge of laughing. (Can't wait for those belly laughs!) He seems to recognize us and smiles when we pick him up to play. He is reaching for toys and fingers and oh, does he love sucking on his fingers! Daddy, the dentist, is not too thrilled with finger sucking so I am constantly pulling his hands away from his mouth and he absolutely refuses his binky now so there's nothing to substitute. At least he is very content and not fussy and doesn't seem to need a binky at all, not even to fall asleep. He is so fun!

Happy Father's Day

We had a nice Father's Day weekend, busy, but fun. We went out to eat at one of our favorite places, The Cheesecake Factory. It is always yummy, and you don't leave there without getting dessert! Hope you had a good weekend Steve, you're a great dad!!!


It is almost impossible to get a picture where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling (and not doing anything embarrassing!) these days. Hope everyone had a happy father's day!

Tennis Anyone?

I found a tennis class through our rec center so lucky Kendyl gets to learn how to play. She loves tennis and attacks that ball! Coach Mark has given her some great pointers and now she just needs to practice.

Easy summer salad...

I'm making this great summer salad for dinner that I just can't get enough of and I thought I'd share since I'm always searching for something tasty. We did have this at Ryder's blessing so some of you can attest to the yumminess!



Spinach and Strawberry Salad

1/2 baby spinach (stemmed and torn in bite size pieces)
1/2 romaine (or whatever lettuce mix you like)
sliced strawberries
sugared almonds

To make the sugared almonds use 1/2 cup slivered almonds and 3 Tablespoons sugar. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves and coats almonds. Watch carefully so they don't burn! Cool on aluminum foil. Store in airtight container.

I also discovered Kraft's new organic salad dressings and just love their Raspberry Vinaigrette on this salad.


If you like, you can add feta cheese and thinly sliced red onion. There are several versions of this salad out there, but this is my favorite. Enjoy!

Knock. Knock. Who's there?

...a little birdie? Where did this parakeet come from?

There was a knock on the door...it was Fedex, but we call him the box man at our house...and when I opened the door I found this little parakeet standing on the welcome mat. He didn't seem bothered when I reached around him to retrieve the box, although he did fly a little bit away from the door. It looks like someone lost a pet, I hope he finds his way home.

Much needed sleep...

I just have to say thank you to Ryder for finally sleeping through the night on Sunday! I was so surprised to wakeup and see morning light peeking through the windows. It has been hard functioning with sleep deprivation for so long. I only hope his sleeping patterns will continue in this direction!

Translations of a 2-year-old...

Since we've been playing on the grass, Brityn has been asking everyday if we could play 'okay'. What is 'okay'? Ummmm, 'frokay'. Can we play 'frokay'? What is 'frokay'? 'Frooooo-kay!' How do we play 'frokay'? Outside with the balls. 'Croquet'? You mean croquet? Yes!

Pucker up...

So Kendyl was coloring her hands to make "handprints" in her book project and coloring her lips to make "lip prints". Funny thing is, I let them have colored Lip Smackers and lip gloss. I guess markers were just more fun.

Washable please...

Kendyl was being creative and making a book, except she stopped drawing on the paper and started drawing on herself! Why do kids love to put marker on all kinds of surfaces other than paper? I had banned all marker use, but she got a Disney projection art kit that came with markers...and would you believe they are non-washable? What kind of toy manufacturer markets a kids toy with non-washable markers?!? They must not have kids at home who like to draw on themselves, their clothes, tables, walls, furniture, other toys, etc. Notice the nice shade of pink on her lips.
