Doctor visit...

I took Ryder in to see the pediatrician for his follow up after his visit to the ER for his seizure.  She referred us to a neurologist, but otherwise Ryder looked handsome, I mean good.  :)

And Kendyl had to have a well-check and booster shot for 7th grade.

And of course we had to treat ourselves to lunch at Panda Express!  ;-)

Rockin' the bandaid, but she's always taken her shots like a champ!

Mommy and daughters date...

I took the girls shopping for school supplies and made it a date!  It was fun to get out and do something fun with just the girls.  :)

Ambulance ride...

Sunday, August 10th.  We were all sitting in the loft reading, playing and gathering school supplies.  We had just returned from a week long vacation in California.  Ryder was sitting on the couch reading a book.  He got up, slumped forward on the ottoman and then rolled off and hit his back on the floor with a loud thump.  I rushed over to make sure he was okay and he looked like he had had the wind knocked out of him.  And then he had a seizure.  A scary event for all of us.  Ryder was slowly coming back to consciousness by the time Steve got home from his meetings at the church.  He gave Ryder a blessing and we decided to call 911 and have him checked out.  By the time the paramedics arrived Ryder seemed back to normal, although not sure what had happened and why all these firefighters were standing in our loft.  :)  He was very calm and cooperative and got to go on his very first (and hopefully last) ambulance ride.

They checked his vitals and kept him for observation, but since it was his first seizure they didn't really do any testing, just said to follow up with the pediatrician.

Showing off his stickers where they hooked him up to the monitors.  He didn't feel any pain and couldn't remember anything about having a seizure and seemed completely normal.  I, on the other hand, couldn't stand to let him out of my sight for the next couple of weeks.  Since it was Ward Conference, Steve did manage to get out of the rest of his meetings and giving his talk in Sacrament meeting though.  ;-)

On our way home, we decided to stop and see the Redlands Temple.

It was beautiful!

Views...

We kept driving past this park in La Jolla and finally stopped to see what it was.  It turned out to be Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial and had some fantastic views of the coast.

San Diego Temple

Amazing!

Coronado Beach...

We headed to Coronado Beach on Friday.  It was kind of an overcast day, but it was still great for the beach.

This was the first year I noticed the flags on the beach.  Apparently the yellow and black checkered flag divides the beach into zones, swimming on one side and surfing/boogie boarding on the other side.  The yellow flag with the black dot means swimming only on that side.

The sun started to peek through the clouds.

Apparently there is an airbase right next to Coronado Beach, so we saw quite a few airplanes flying overhead.

And you definitely had to watch out for the seagulls.  They were relentless if you left any food out!

The sand here sparkles like gold thanks to a mineral called mica.  Pretty!

Another fun day at the beach!
