Anderson Dairy field trip...

Tuesday was the preschool field trip to Anderson Dairy.  The girls have been multiple times, but I've never gone, so this was my first time.  The kids were excited, of course, because they knew there would be icecream at the end of the tour.  :)

 

 

I was impressed by their whole set-up and all the animatronics they had.  Seriously, I felt like I was in the Tiki Tiki Room at Disneyland!

 

 

After a little show that introduced the animals and talked about the dairy and where milk comes from, they took us on a walking tour where we could see them packaging icecream and milk.  It was cool!

 

At the freezer section there was a fog machine that came on to make us feel "cold".

 

And then a movie about the history of Anderson Dairy and icecream!!!

Holiday concert...

Brityn's class had a holiday concert on Monday.  It was so cute and the kids did a terrific job singing and doing actions to all of their songs!  They had some technical difficulties, but the kids did great singing all on their own.

 

I love that the kids are doing concerts--Ms. G. is awesome!  Great job Brityn!!!

Dare Graduation...

The 5th graders finished their D.A.R.E. program and had a little graduation ceremony on Friday.  They each had to write an essay about what they learned and then each class picked the one they liked best and those 4 students got to read them for graduation.

 

 

A big thank you to Officer Roundy for coming on his day off to run the dare program at Somerset!  Great job Kendyl!!

Pinterest craftiness...

I love pinning things on pinterest.  Most projects just stay pins, but I did get crafty this year for Christmas.  Lots of parties or snacks for class or activity day treats.  Thanks to the creativity of awesome people who share their talents by letting me print their genius for free!  And making me look great too!

 

Lights...

One of the kids favorite thing to do is drive through the Glittering Lights out at the speedway.  They love it!

 

 

And no, it's not snowing, it's just the dirty windshield.  :)

Santa...

Our ward dinner was Saturday night and there was a special visitor at the very end.

 

 

The older kids had no problem sitting on Santa's lap and telling him what they want for Christmas.

 

This was as close as Sawyer was getting.

 

And Leightyn was screaming and desperately trying to escape!  Sunday was the Stake Choir and Orchestra Christmas Concert and it was wonderful.  Steve even managed to bring all 5 kids so they could hear me play.  Slight payback for all the Sundays I wrestle the kids by myself--thanks for letting me play in the concert Steve!

Live Nativity...

We went to see the live nativity done by the Red Rock Stake this year.  It was the first time we've gone and it was wonderful!  It was beautifully done with music and a recorded narrative from the scriptures.  What an awesome way to start the Christmas season!

 

 

 

They had live sheep and goats that the kids could pet.  Mary rode in on a real donkey and the wisemen rode in on horses.  It was really impressive.

 

Joseph and Baby Jesus.  So sweet.

 

Afterwards we went to Krispy Kreme for some snowman donuts.

A really fun night!  I hope we can make this a yearly tradition.  Merry Christmas!

Happy Girl!

Oh Christmas Tree...

Well, our old Christmas tree bit the dust.  Last year, only half the lights worked.  Steve valiantly tried to replace the lights, but it was too much of a project.  So we got a new tree this year.

 

 

We did do our annual gingerbread cookies, but I forgot to take pictures while I was covered in flour and rolling out dough and chasing down Leightyn.

 

The kids did a really good job this year and they turned out lovely.

 

And then they slept by the tree.  Sawyer even slept all night in his sleeping bag.  Woohoo!  Christmas is here!
