Zion's in winter...

The last night we were at Duck Creek the power went out. We got some cool pictures in the dark.

On our way home, we drove through Zion's National Park. It was surprisingly beautiful with all the snow and icicles.

It was a totally different view of the scenery in winter.

Happy New Year...

We started our New Year's celebration with some chocolate fondue. The kids LOVE dipping their favorite foods in the chocolate!

Then we got to working on our traditional puzzle while we watched the countdown on tv.

Sawyer went to bed at his usual bed time....

... Ryder fell asleep on the couch not long after that...

... Brityn went to take a short rest that lasted the rest of the night...

But Kendyl stayed up with Mom and Dad to finish the puzzle! Happy 2011!!

More playing...

We enjoyed spending time together and relaxing at the cabin. It was nice to not have any other obligations than just being together.

The kids were happy to play with their new toys from Christmas and surprisingly they were happy to share.

It snowed while we were there and this is the view of our driveway from the house!

No playing outside!

But lots of playing inside!

After they plowed the driveway, the girls thought they would help out a bit more.

I don't know if they could even put the snow on top!

Snow, snow, and more snow...

We stayed in a cabin in Duck Creek, in southern Utah. The scenery was breathtaking with all the snow in the mountains. But the road to get there was not without its hazards. The roads were covered with snow and the highway between Cedar City and Duck Creek was closed due to fallen trees. We got stuck in the snow once we got there and were VERY grateful for kind young men who stopped to help us out!

Snow ball fight!

Buried in the snow!

And more sledding!

No hands!

Playing in the snow...

The kids were so excited to see the snow falling and headed straight outside to play in the snow. When we arrived there was about 4 feet of snow and Wednesday brought between 2-3 more feet!

There were plenty of small slopes right outside our door, so the kids jumped on the sleds and went sliding down any hill they could find.

They had so much fun just going outside everyday to play in the snow. And there was nothing better than to come inside and warm up with some hot chocolate!
